The Historical Five Story Pagoda of Mt. Haguro
It traditionally is said that the five ・storied pagoda was built by Taira no Masakado, a military commander in those days, from 931 to 937. A classic text says that Ｆｕｊｉｗａｒａ no Ujiie, a court noble, rebuilt it in 1372. It is 29 meters high, 3 ken ( 1 ken = 1.8m) x 5 storied, plain wood building roofed with shingles. It is designated as a national treasure.
